How we verify

How every review gets verified

On most review sites, anyone can post. On PepReviewPro, a review starts with a real order and passes three checks before anyone sees it.

  • Matched to a real order

The Verified purchase badge means we found the reviewer's order with that store.

  • Screened before it's published

Wording that puts a store's payments at risk comes out before anyone sees it.

  • Confirmed by its author

A review publishes automatically only when we know it came from the buyer's own inbox.

The process

From order to published review

  1. A real order is placed

The store's WooCommerce plugin sends each completed order to PepReviewPro. That order is what a review is later matched against.

  2. The buyer is invited to review

Once the store turns on review requests, buyers get one by email after their order completes, 48 hours later by default. The link in it is tied to that order. One tap on a star saves their rating, and they can add words if they like.

  3. The review is screened

Before a review is saved, it is checked for the seven kinds of wording below. Problem wording comes out, and what's left may be reworded so it still reads clearly. If screening can't run, the review waits and is checked again.

  4. The reviewer confirms it

A review from the request email is already confirmed, because its link went only to the buyer's inbox. Any other review gets a confirmation email, and publishes automatically only once they click it. That link never expires.

  5. We match the purchase

When the review is confirmed, we look for its order on file with that store, or for the reviewer's email among the store's customers with orders. A match earns the Verified purchase badge.

  6. The review is published

The review goes live when the store approves it, or right away if the store publishes verified reviews automatically. A review that failed screening can't be published.

Compliance screening

What screening removes

Payment processors review what customers say about a store. These seven kinds of wording can put a store's account at risk, so they never reach a published review.

  • Direct human-use language
  • Weight loss or body composition claims
  • Testimonial of a personal outcome
  • Coded or implied human use
  • Dosing, administration, or reconstitution
  • Medical claim or health advice
  • Third-party or implied use

What we keep

Feedback about shipping, packaging, communication, testing, and how the order went stays. Compound names are swapped for neutral terms, and the star rating is never changed.

The badge

What Verified purchase means

Verified purchase

We found the reviewer's order with that store, or their email among the store's customers with orders. The review also came from that buyer's own inbox.

Reviews without the badge

If we can't make the match, the review never gets the badge and is never published automatically. Store pages let shoppers show verified reviews only.

Independence

What stores can and can't do

Stores can

  • Choose when review requests go out after an order.
  • Approve reviews before they appear, or publish verified reviews automatically.
  • Ask a person on our team to re-check a review that screening rejected.

Stores can't

  • Change a review's words or star rating.
  • Publish a review that failed screening.
  • Add the Verified purchase badge to a review we couldn't match to an order.
  • Pay for a higher rating or a better place in the rankings.

Rankings

How the directory ranks vendors

Rankings weigh a vendor's average rating by how many reviews stand behind it, and give extra weight to purchase-verified reviews. A handful of perfect scores doesn't outrank hundreds of strong ones.
