What happens after a buyer writes a review?

Updated · Getting started

Every review goes through the same steps before buyers see it. Screening comes first, then the author's confirmation, then the purchase match.

Screening

The review is checked the moment it is submitted. Screening looks for wording that can put your payment processing at risk. If it fails, the automatic clean-up keeps what can be published and removes the rest. If nothing can be kept, the review is held. What does compliance screening remove?

Confirmation

We email the author a link to confirm the review. The review can't be published automatically until they select Confirm review. The link never expires.

Purchase match

When the author confirms, we look for their order with your store, or their email among your customers with orders. A match earns the Verified purchase badge. How are reviews matched to orders?

Publishing

If Publish verified reviews automatically is on, a matched review that passed screening goes live as soon as it is confirmed. Every other review waits in Reviews for you to approve it. A published review shows on your store page and in your widgets, and the plugin sends it to WordPress.

If your Thank you campaign is on, the author also gets a thank-you email after confirming.
